Atomizer Short: Causes and Effective Solutions

With time goes by, electronic cigarettes are becoming popular around the world. More and more people are embracing the idea of vaping, which has proven to offer an array of benefits to the average vaper. Credible news sources such as the New York Times have covered stories of former tobacco addicts who got over their addiction, all thanks to vaping.

To get your e-cig up and running, you’ll need specific hardware items: A coil or atomizer, a tank, and a power supply unit or a battery. Most new vapers prefer to buy fully assembled e-cigarettes for the sake of convenience. Nonetheless, you can purchase some of these hardware parts separately and customize your vaporizer. Irrespective of style, size, or shape, both introductory close systems and personalized e-cigs operate in the same manner – as they share the same principals.

The main aim of this blog post is to discuss a major issue, namely Atomizer Shorts. But first, to appreciate the essentiality of an atomizer, it’s important to recap its function.

The term “atomizer” can be used to refer to different things, with regards to vaping. In some instances, it refers to devices containing vaping coils while other times it is used to refer to the heating coils inside the device.

A vape atomizer is a device that heats up and transforms vape juice into smokable vapor. It contains a heating coil that is measured in ohms, which refers to the resistance amount of a given atomizer. Most atomizers with low ohm level demand more power to function properly. An atomizer with a resistance level of less than 1.0 ohm is often referred to as a sub-ohm atomizer.

During vaping, you turn on your vaporizer to active the battery that powers various components within the device. The power generated from the battery heats up the heating coil (or coils) inside the vape atomizer.

Above the coils is the wick, soaked in your e-liquid. The wick can be made of a few different materials such as cotton. When the vape juice soaked in the wick comes into contact with the coil, it begins to heat up and turns into vapor once it reaches the required temperature.

What is atomizer short?

When most mods don’t detect an atomizer, their screens display “No atomizer found”. Many a time this alert comes up due to connection issues that are easy to fix. Ensuring the coil is properly screwed in, for example, can help you resolve the issue.

If your mod’s screen displays “atomizer low”, the atomizer’s resistance may be lower than the minimum resistance required for the device to function.

The “ATOMIZER SHORT” alert shouldn’t be confused with the “atomizer low” and “no atomizer found” alerts. You’ll get this error on your vape pen or mod when your atomizer has a short in it (otherwise known as a short-circuit).

How can you fix Atomizer Short issue?

When you get an “Atomizer Short” or an “Ohms Too Low” reading on your vaping device, you may want to check a number of things to identify and fix the issue. Start by removing the batteries and placing them on an external charger. This step will enable you to see whether the batteries are in perfect working condition.

If you don’t have an external charger, you’ll have to rely on the reading on the device to identify the issue you’re having with your atomizer. Some devices come with indicator lights instead of screens. In case of an atomizer short error, the light blinks in a color different from the normal operating light. For example, your device may blink red for error and green for normal operation.

Once you’ve tested the batteries and confirmed that they’re working fine, you should move to the tank. You can connect the tanks to your vaporizer in two different ways. One connection is the pad or pin that’s centered in both the tank and the mod or device used. The other connection is the 510 connection that holds the tanks to the mod or device used.

There must be a good connection between the vaporizer and the tank for the battery power to flow from the mod to the tank. Since you cannot see the connection, it’s advisable to check the coil for connectivity.

When checking the coil, you’ll need to put together the batteries inside the vape mod and the bottom part of the tank. Take the coil and place it in the base of the tank. Make sure the tank’s base is screwed in all the way to avoid loose connections. The connection at the base of the coil should touch a pin inside the tank, connected to the mod’s 510 pin.

If you have a coil of new brand, use e-liquid to prime it. Turn the mod’s power down to see if the heating coil heats up the e-liquid. Turning down the power will prevent the cotton from burning. Additionally, it helps warm up the e-juice that will flow through to those hard to apply areas of your device. You may want to blow on the coil to see the small amount of vapor produced and keep your coil from overheating.

You can’t go wrong with all of the steps mentioned above. Patiently wait to see vapor coming from the coil before assembling back your vaporizer. Be sure to fit the tank with the glass cover at the top before filling it up for use.

If you were diagnosing the atomizer short issue with an older coil and still have issues with your atomizer, it would be a good idea to retry the solutions offered in this article with a new coil from a trusted vendor. Clean up points of contact between the battery and atomizer to reduce resistance and enhance the flow of electric energy.

Coils go bad. Some of them last longer than others, depending on how long you use your mod and the juice you use.

Hopefully, you are able to fix the error on your device after reading this piece. Be sure to check out our other blog posts to learn more about vaping devices and how to improve your user experience as a vaper.
